Meroz

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(meaning of the word not precisely determined) (Judg 5:23) — the name of a city in northern Palestine, mentioned in the triumphant song of Deborah and Barak. Its inhabitants were cursed for refusing to come to Israel’s help against Sisera. In the opinion of some, this is either the present-day Kefr Musr, south of Mount Tabor, or Marussus, north of Beth-shan.
