Mulberry Tree

(2 Sam. 5:23–24)—the trees near which David was commanded to wait for the sound of marching in their tops before attacking the Philistines. The Hebrew baka is uncertain and has been rendered balsam tree, poplar, or mulberry. It is therefore unsafe to build the source’s botanical description or its proposed connection with the Valley of Baca in Psalm 84:6 upon a certain mulberry identification.
