Ono

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(strong, firm) (1 Chron. 8:12)—a city of the tribe of Benjamin, built by the sons of Elpaal and probably situated near Lod, or Lydda. Ezra mentions it in his first book (2:33), as does Nehemiah (7:37). According to Reland, the city stood three miles from Lydda. Its actual position remains unknown, though it is thought to have stood in the plain of Ono, which contained many villages (Neh. 6:2).
