(according to Gesenius — ornament of the Lord; according to others, witness of God) — the name of the following persons: a) (2 Kings 22:1) father of Jedidah, mother of King Josiah; b) (1 Chron. 9:12) a priest, son of Jeroham, also mentioned in the Book of Nehemiah (11:12) as one of the chief men of Israel who returned from captivity; c) (1 Chron. 8:21) one of the sons of Shimei, of the tribe of Benjamin; d) (Ezra 10:29–39) an Israelite, of the sons of Bani, who in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah had foreign wives; e) (Neh. 11:5) one of the ancestors of Maaseiah, of the tribe of Judah; f) (1 Chron. 6:41) a Levite, ancestor of the well-known singer of David’s time, Asaph.
