Philologus
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
(lover of learning; Rom. 16:15)—a Christian in Rome greeted by Paul together with Julia, Nereus and his sister, Olympas, and the saints with them. Later tradition numbers Philologus among the Seventy Apostles and associates him with Sinope under the Apostle Andrew; these details are not found in Romans. He is commemorated in Orthodox tradition on January 4 and November 5.
