(apple)—the name of a man and of several places. (1) (1 Chron. 2:43) a son of Hebron in the genealogy of Judah. (2) (Josh. 12:17; 15:34) a Canaanite royal city later assigned to Judah; its site is uncertain. (3) (Josh. 16:8; 17:8) a town or district on the border of Ephraim and Manasseh, commonly associated with En-tappuah and sometimes proposed near modern Yasuf, though the identification is debated.
