Terah

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(Gen. 11:24-32; Josh. 24:2; 1 Chron. 1:26)—a descendant of Shem, son of Nahor, and father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. He lived in Ur of the Chaldeans. Haran died during Terah’s lifetime, leaving Lot. Joshua 24:2 says that Israel’s ancestors, including Terah, lived beyond the Euphrates and served other gods.
