The territory of the tribe of Naphtali

(Josh. 19:32–39) was located in the very north of Palestine; on the south it bordered the tribe of Zebulun, on the west the tribe of Asher, and was separated from the half-tribe of Manasseh on the east by the upper Jordan. The territory of the tribe of Naphtali’s allotment was extraordinarily varied in its situation: in it were found mountains, valleys, and plains. Some parts of this territory are still very fertile to this day, while others are adorned with majestic forests, though among them are also found not a few empty and burned-over places.
The boundaries of the territory of the tribe of Naphtali are reckoned in the Book of Joshua (19:32–39). * Mount Naphtali** (Josh. 20:7)—a mountainous part of the tribe of Naphtali, on which Kedesh in Galilee was situated, a small town still pointed out to this day not far to the northwest of the waters of Merom.
