The Tribe of Issachar.
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
The inheritance that fell to the tribe of Issachar, between the inheritances of Zebulun and Ephraim, was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and fertile. It occupied the richly fruitful Valley of Jezreel with the adjoining mountains - Tabor, Little Hermon, and Gilboa - as far as the Jordan and the Sea of Galilee (Josh 19:17-23). Even now, as in biblical times, the region is renowned for its exceptional fertility, according to contemporary travelers.
