Tiria; Theria
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
—(1) Tiria, one of the sons of Jehallelel in the genealogies of Judah (1 Chron. 4:16). (2) A place-name preserved in the source’s textual tradition of 2 Samuel 23:11, near Philistine territory, where Shammah son of Agee defended a field of lentils and struck down the Philistines. The standard Hebrew text does not name the place in that verse, so “Theria” represents a variant tradition rather than a secure biblical site.
