Tirhakah Tharaca
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
(2 Kings 19:9; Isa. 37:9)—the Kushite ruler later known as Pharaoh Taharqa of Egypt’s Twenty-fifth Dynasty. During Sennacherib’s campaign against Judah, a report came that Tirhakah was marching out to fight him. The exact chronology and Tirhakah’s status at that moment are discussed, since he became pharaoh somewhat later, but the biblical notice belongs to the Assyrian crisis in Hezekiah’s reign.
