Tirzah

(“delight” or “pleasantness”)—(1) one of the five daughters of Zelophehad, with Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, and Milcah (Num. 26:33; Josh. 17:3). Because their father had no sons, their appeal became central to the law of inheritance for daughters (Num. 27:1-11). (2) A Canaanite city conquered by Joshua and later an early royal capital of the northern kingdom of Israel (Josh. 12:24; 1 Kings 14:17; 15:21, 33; 16:8-23).
