Esarhaddon

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(2 Kings 19:37) (victorious, sovereign) — son of Sennacherib, one of the mighty kings of Assyria. He conquered Babylon and annexed it to Assyria, defeated Manasseh, king of Judah, and, binding him in chains, carried him off to Babylon. In Assyrian records he is called Esarhaddon. Esarhaddon built many splendid palaces and no fewer than thirty temples.
