Gazara
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(2 Macc. 10:32–36; 1 Macc. 9:52; 14:7, 33, and elsewhere) — a place often mentioned in the account of the Maccabean wars. There is full ground to consider Gazara identical with the ancient Gezer. In favor of this identity speaks both the similarity of the position of biblical Gezer with Gazara, and the name which the Septuagint translators give to Gezer and Gazara.
