(wall, fortification) a) — the name of two persons. One of them is mentioned in the genealogy of Saul (1 Chron. 8:31; 9:37), the other in the genealogy of the descendants of the patriarch Judah (1 Chron. 4:4), namely, the son of Penuel; b) the name of two cities: one of them lay in the hill country of the tribe of Judah, to the north of Hebron. It is thought that this is the present-day Jedur, between Hebron and Bethlehem (Josh. 15:58). The other, probably a city of the tribe of Benjamin (1 Chron. 12:7). From it came Joelah and Zebadiah, warriors of Saul who joined David at Ziklag.
