Jahzeiah

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(“the LORD sees”) (Ezra 10:15)—son of Tikvah, named with Jonathan son of Asahel, Meshullam, and Shabbethai in connection with Ezra’s inquiry into foreign marriages. The Hebrew may mean that Jahzeiah and Jonathan opposed the proposed procedure, whereas the source understood them as officials supervising the investigation. The grammatical and textual ambiguity should not be hidden.

Scripture cited
