(cities) (Jer 48:24; Amos 2:2) - a Moabite town identified by the source with the surviving ruins of El-Kureiyat, several miles northeast of Bozrah. Jeremiah and Amos foretold its destruction. Amos prophesied: 'I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet' (Amos 2:2).
