Meadow and meadows

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(Ps 65:13) - 'The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing,' says the psalmist. Palestine from ancient times abounded in meadows and valleys covered with fragrant flowers and lush grass and enlivened by grazing livestock. Because of the abundance of these herds, it was often called a land flowing with milk and honey (Exod 3:8, 17; 33:3). Galilee, Sharon, Carmel, Lebanon, and other districts were especially rich in vegetation, meadows, and pastures.
