The Adramyttian ship

(Acts 27:2). Adramyttium was a seaport in Mysia, in Asia Minor, at the foot of Mount Ida. In antiquity it was reckoned an important trading city. It is now known by the name Edremit, or Adramyti, and lies sixty or eighty English miles north of Smyrna, with about 1,000 houses. To this city belonged the ship in which the Apostle Paul sailed, sent as a prisoner from Caesarea to Rome.
