(springs) — the name of two localities: a) (Josh. 9:17; 18:25) a city of the tribe of Benjamin, situated at the foot of the hill on which Gibeon was built, several miles northeast of Jerusalem. It is now known by the name el-Bireh; b) (Num. 33:31, 32) the name likewise given to the place that served as an encampment of the Israelites during their journey through the wilderness of Arabia (Deut. 10:6), also called Bene-jaakan.
