Flax and linen garments

(Exod 9:31; Lev 13:47) - flax, Hebrew pishtah, was well known in ancient Palestine and Egypt. From very early times Egypt was famous for cultivating and preparing it. Linen and other materials for clothing were made from flax (Isa 19:9), and both ancient and modern peoples valued and cultivated it highly. Clean, bright linen symbolized innocence and moral purity (Rev 15:6).
