(waves, heaps of stones) (1 Sam. 25:44): a) a city of the tribe of Benjamin to the north of Jerusalem, mentioned as the place from which came Palti, to whom Saul gave his daughter Michal in marriage; b) (Isa. 10:30) a locality mentioned by the prophet Isaiah among the cities threatened by the invasion of Sennacherib: “Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim (that is, its inhabitant),” he exclaims, “cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth.” It must be supposed that it lay in the tribe of Benjamin, not far to the north of Jerusalem; according to Eusebius, “Gallim” lay near Ekron; c) among the cities added by the LXX to the cities of the tribe of Judah (Josh. 15:59), between Karem and Bethhur, we encounter Gallim.
