Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(Acts 13:1) - a common Roman name. Acts mentions Lucius of Cyrene among the teachers and prophets at Antioch. Romans 16:21 names a Lucius, one of Paul's kinsmen, who joins in greeting the Romans. The first Lucius was numbered among the Seventy Apostles and became bishop of Laodicea in Syria. His commemorations are January 4 and September 10.
