(shady)—the name of three places or persons: (1) (Num. 33:41) one of Israel’s wilderness encampments; (2) (Ruth 4:20; Matt. 1:4–5) son of Nahshon, father of Boaz, and an ancestor of King David named in the genealogy of the Lord Jesus Christ; and (3) (Acts 27:7) a cape on Crete passed by the ship carrying Paul to trial before Caesar in Rome, celebrated in antiquity for a shrine of Minerva.
