(God is the one who blesses) — the name of six persons: a) (1 Chron. 3:20) one of the sons of Zerubbabel, a descendant of David; b) (1 Chron. 9:16) son of Asa, a Levite, of the descendants of Elkanah; c) (1 Chron. 6:39) father of Asaph, of the Levites, the famous singer under David; d) (1 Chron. 15:23) one of the doorkeepers of the Ark, in the days of David. In the Russian: Berechiah (Neh. 6:18); e) (Neh. 3:4, 30) father of Meshullam, one of those who repaired the wall of Jerusalem; f) (2 Chron. 28:12) son of Meshillemoth, one of the princes of the tribe of Ephraim, who lived under Ahaz, king of Judah, and Pekah, king of Israel.
