Salcah

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(journey; wandering) (Deut. 3:10; Josh. 12:5)—an ancient city on Bashan’s eastern frontier, at the limit of Og’s territory. After Israel’s conquest it and all Bashan passed to the half-tribe of Manasseh. Its extensive ruins, called Salhad or, less correctly according to the source, Sarhad, showed that it remained an important city in Roman and later times.
