Son of Man

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(Matt. 8:20; 26:2)—the title Jesus most often uses of Himself. It affirms His true humanity and lowly earthly condition, yet it also invokes Daniel’s heavenly figure who receives everlasting dominion (Dan. 7:13–14). Thus the title embraces humiliation, suffering, authority to forgive and judge, resurrection, and the glorious coming of the Messiah.
