(God is gracious; Neh. 3:1; 12:39)—a tower on the northeastern side of Jerusalem near the Tower of the Hundred and the Sheep Gate. It marked a prominent point in the repaired wall. Jeremiah 31:38 and Zechariah 14:10 also name it in promises concerning Jerusalem; translations preserve variant spellings such as Hananeel or Ananeel.
