Tyrannus
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
(Acts 19:9)—the owner or teacher associated with the lecture hall at Ephesus where Paul reasoned daily after withdrawing from the synagogue. Through this sustained ministry, “all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 19:10). Whether Tyrannus was a Greek rhetorician, philosopher, or another kind of teacher is unknown.
